For Immediate Release
August 20 , 2009 - 2010 ASIAN PACIFIC MALE CALENDAR NOW AVAILABLE!

apm calendar 2010 Los Angeles – Asian Pacific Health Care Venture, Inc. (APHCV) is pleased to announce the release of the 2010 Asian Pacific Male Calendar! Designed and created by Jason Peers, Jeff Sheng, and Nareth Chuon of Los Angeles, this charity project features some of today’s most popular Asian Pacific American male actors and models, who have gathered together to benefit APHCV. The calendar is available online via Amazon.com or at APHCV for $15. The creators used this calendar project as a way to give back to the community. As Sheng, the calendar’s photographer states, "This calendar is a great way to increase the visibility of Asian American men in a society that disproportionally focuses on "white" beauty and Asian American women. Not only are we making something that will monetarily benefit an Asian American community health center, but we are hoping to combat the lack and invisibility of strong, good-looking Asian male imagery out there in American culture." Peers was motivated to help APHVC once he heard the positive experiences his friends had at the organization, and by his hope for the Asian American community to become more inspired to help one another.

Featured in the calendar are several models and actors, including Yul Kwon of “Survivor: Cook Islands,” actor/writer/filmmaker Edward Gunawan, actor/model/producer Thomas Livezey, actors Ji Han, Daniel Ichikawa, martial artist Darren Domingo, and veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan Frank Chan. Other models and actors include Anthony Nguyen, Trung Pham, Scott Kang, Sam Serei, and Christopher Kim. The photographer is Asian American artist Jeff Sheng, lecturer and adjunct professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His work has been seen in the New York Times Magazine, the LA Times, and the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. APHCV is holding a press event on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at 11 am at our clinic (1530 Hillhurst Ave. Los Angeles CA 90027). Photographer Jeff Sheng, Thai-American actor/producer/model Thomas Livezey, and Filipino-American martial artist/model Darren Domingo are all scheduled to appear. All members of the media should RSVP to Carolyn Barragan (contact information listed above) by Friday, August 28, 2009.
