  June 5, 2008 - ASEAN LADIES CIRCLE OF LOS ANGELES TOURS ASIAN PACIFIC HEALTH CARE VENTURE

(Los Angeles, CA) — Asian Pacific Health Care Venture, Inc. (APHCV) welcomed 12 members of the Executive Committee of the ASEAN Ladies Circle of Los Angeles (ALCLA) on Thursday, June 5, 2008. Attendees included Consul General Mary Jo Bernardo-Aragon from the Philippines; Madame Haryati Sujono, wife of the Consul General of Indonesia; and Wendy Wagner, Secretary General, Thai Women Council of Southern California; as well as additional representatives from the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia. Following introductions and a video showing the history of the organization, the guests received a tour of APHCV’s main facility on Hillhurst Avenue in Hollywood. “This is a special honor for APHCV to have these distinguished women visiting our center,” said Kazue Shibata, Chief Executive Officer of APHCV. “We appreciate this opportunity to demonstrate how APHCV serves as a community resource to people in need of affordable culturally competent health care services. We look forward to continuing to build our relationship with ALCLA and its members.”

ALCLA is a non-profit organization that was formed by the wives of the Consuls General of Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand. The current president of the organization is Consul General Aragon who generously hosts APHCV’s annual health fair at the Philippine Consulate. The Thai Consulate has sponsored several of APHCV’s health education presentations on topics such as diabetes, health insurance options, and breast cancer prevention and screening.

Asian Pacific Health Care Venture, Inc. (www.aphcv.org) located in Hollywood and serving the greater Los Angeles area, is a Federally Qualified Health Center that provides culturally competent health education and primary care services to 11,000 patients annually, more than 75% of whom are uninsured. APHCV provides its health education and health care services in nine Asian languages (Thai, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Khmer, Japanese, Bengali, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Indonesian), English and Spanish.
