APHCV serves thousands of women, men, and children who have gained access to health care through the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare. Because of the ACA, people are able to receive affordable and comprehensive treatment for chronic conditions, preventive care such as cancer screenings and immunizations, and regular physical check-ups.
There have been policy moves to repeal the ACA in Washington, D.C. Such repeal will send all of us back to the days when the uninsured seek care in emergency room, people with pre-existing conditions could be denied health care coverage, and many “curtailed” their health care because they could not afford. The House narrowly passed its bill, the American Health Care Act (AHCA), on May 4th, and now the Senate has begun developing its own legislation. The White House has also released its proposed FY 2018 budget with devastating cuts to Medicaid and other programs putting the health of over 20 million Americans at risk.
