The Campaign to Protect Patients: Reject the Attack on Community Health Centers and Clinics is now No on Prop 44!
Prop 44 is a dangerous statewide ballot measure that threatens care for millions of patients who rely on community health centers and clinics for their health needs. The measure would cut $1.7 billion in the first year alone from community health centers and clinics. As a result, clinics that care for millions of patients each year will be forced to cut services or even shut down.
The campaign has had a busy couple of months as we inch closer to November and defeating Proposition 44.
In May, Proposition 44 officially qualified for the ballot, and our campaign immediately responded by showcasing our growing coalition and mounting opposition.
The No on Prop 44 coalition continues to gain incredible momentum with powerful endorsements from across the state. The California Teachers Association (CTA) voted to oppose the measure, as have dozens of mental health organizations, social justice advocates, doctors, nurses and more. Check out the campaign website for a full list of the broad and growing coalition opposed to Proposition 44.
Our campaign is also picking up endorsements of major news outlets, with both La Opinion and Calo News editorializing against Prop 44, saying that the measure will “harm community clinics at the most fragile and vulnerable time we have seen in many decades. Therefore, it must be defeated.”
Now more than ever, we need our health center partners to help spread the word to vote NO on Prop 44. In coming weeks, clinics will be receiving campaign material including signs, pamphlets, stickers, buttons, and more. We encourage you to share that material widely!
